HKM Degree College Bandipora conducted a Covid-19 outreach program at its adopted school-Govt Boys Middle School Duban, Bandipora on 23rd of June 2021. The school recently adopted by this institution is situated remotely on a mountain peak 12-kms from the college campus. A team comprised of faculty, non-teaching staff and NSS volunteers lead by the Principal of the college Dr. Mohd Amin Malik carrying banners and posters, distributed masks AND sanitizers among the students and the staff of the school. Besides, 40-school bags containing note books and pens were also distributed among the poor students of the adopted school. The program was undertaken with strict adherence of COVID SOPs While welcoming the college faculty and the staff, the Headmaster of the school Mr Yassar Tasleem Affandi put before the Principal various issues of the school related with infrastructure and academics and sought their redressal. In his speech, the Principal highlighted the current scenario of the pandemic, the impending danger of 3rd wave and emphasised on the need to sensitize the people especially living in the remote areas. Dr. Malik elaborated on the need to help eliminate stigma and misinformation associated with the virus. He talked on various Dos and Don’t that need to be followed to contain the spread of the virus. Various issues related with the infrastructure and academics of the school were also discussed and the Principal assured the school authorities for full support to resolve these problems. The principal latter interacted with the students of the school and responded to their questions. The NSS programme coordinator Prof Mohmad Abass Bhat gave an outline of this outreach program and emphasised the need for vaccination and SOPs The program concluded with the vote of thanks presented by Dr Mohd. Shaikhul Ashraf who also conducted the proceeding of the event
